Family Focus
Ed Emshwiller, US, 1975, 58 min., color
Family Focus is an Emshwiller family self-portrait, a stylized group autobiography. It was recorded for the most part with a black and white video porta-pac over a span of a year and a half. One series of Christmas movies shows the growth of the children covering 20 years. The camera was available for spontaneous taping by members of the family. It is documentary/video art transformation of self-revealing images, a playful ironic tape. (EE)

Choice Chance Woman Dance
Ed Emshwiller, US, 1971, 44 min., color
An ambitious attempt to synthesize the experiences of several women as a way of understanding the world from a woman’s perspective. A highly stylized, experimental documentary that showcases Emshwiller’s unique approach to storytelling.
