Mother I Am Suffocating… is a poetic meditation on the filmmaker’s exile from his native Lesotho and alienation in his adopted Berlin, as well as his cutting response to the legacies of colonialism and Christianity in Africa. The film intimately observes movements and gestures, while the narration conveys a solemn sense of fragility and loss.
