Mother I Am Suffocating… is a poetic meditation on the filmmaker’s exile from his native Lesotho and alienation in his adopted Berlin, as well as his cutting response to the legacies of colonialism and Christianity in Africa. The film intimately observes movements and gestures, while the narration conveys a solemn sense of fragility and loss. Deeply personal and profoundly resonant, Mosese’s film has a style completely unto itself. (Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, Lesotho/Qatar/Germany, 2019, 76 min.) In Sesotho with English subtitles
