Famed French actress Juliet Berto made her mark in films by Jean-Luc Godard and Jacques Rivette during the 1960s and 70`s. In the 1980s she began her own filmmaking career with Neige, a gritty depiction of junkies, sex workers, and cops who operate at the margins of Parisian society. Berto plays Anita, a barmaid who tries to look after a young drug dealer and ends up facing a bleak set of options. As she sinks deeper into the criminal underworld, she ends up needing some help of her own. Neige is the first of three remarkable films directed by Berto before her untimely death.
