Nostalgia For The Light (Nostalgia De La Luz)
Patricio Guzmán, 2010, 90 min.

Can stuff help us glimpse the spatially and temporally inaccessible? This Chilean documentary simultaneously follows two investigations in the massive Atacama desert: that of outer space, through giant telescopes taking advantage of the desert aridity, and that of women digging through the earth in search of bone fragments of loved ones disappeared by Pinochet's dictatorial regime.

Remarks following the film by Jens Andermann, Professor of Spanish and Portuguese, New York University, with Nancy Roane, PhD Candidate, Comparative Literature and Cinema Studies, Penn.

Series curated by Rahul Mukherjee (Dick Wolf Assistant Professor of Television and New Media Studies), Vikrant Dadawala (PhD Candidate, English/Cinema Studies), and Nancy Lee Roane (Phd Candidate, Comparative Literature/Cinema Studies).
